This study is a summary of recent nanotechnology developments for wastewater treatment and how effective nanomaterials are in purifying and decontaminating water. A literature review has identified the most promising nanomaterials: carbon nanotubes, metal nanoparticles and nanostructured membranes, which can adsorb and break down organic and inorganic pollutants. The studies mainly focused on characterizing the physical and chemical properties of these nanomaterials and testing their efficiency in treating wastewater in different environments. The results show that nanotechnologies are not only more efficient than traditional methods but also use less energy and produce less toxic by-products. In summary, nanotechnologies offer exciting opportunities for better and more sustainable wastewater treatment, but more research is needed to evaluate long-term environmental impact and safety before implementation.
